PROVISIONAL 02 & HOTEL ZIMMER

Provisional 02 - Hotel Zimmer is a programme of interdisciplinary work exploring AI (artificial intelligence) and its human impact, including those affected by but disengaged with the discourse around the use of such new technologies by a growing number of governments, corporations, organisations and institutions. The main Provisional project researches AI and then responds to it fusing traditional and digital art practices. The result is the imaginary (online space) Hotel Zimmer presenting new visual and performance works created by the project artists performed and streamed to audiences.

Provisional VA&PN (Virtual Art & Performance Network) supports participants in a peer-to-peer development group for artists interested in AI and hybrid art practice. Provisional encourages ways to share practice and build artist networks, particularly those outside the mainstream dedicating time and space to the process of using AI tools to create new work and provide room for low-stakes exploration and experimentation.

Hotel Zimmer is an artist-led investigation into AI. The work is devised as live art, online and through social media. The project will: increase artist AI engagement; provide access to new technologies such as 3D character creation and motion capture; provide artist commissions, development and networking; increase audiences, public engagement and exposure using social media video trailers; connect with AI institutes; hold virtual art lab workshops; tour the Hotel Zimmer virtual performance broadcast; build and launch the project website and publish the Provisional 02 Hotel Zimmer artist magazine.
